We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join our Electrical Engineering team . The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical building systems design, covering Medium Voltage, Low Voltage Power Distribution, and DFS – Data, Fire, and Security (Small Wires) systems in US or Canada
This remote position focuses on designing electrical infrastructure for multi-residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. Key responsibilities include performing electrical load calculations, preparing drawings and schematics, and ensuring code compliance with Canadian and US standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-residential buildings including power distribution and mechanical equipment loads.
- Develop detailed electrical layouts and schematics using AutoCAD and Revit (preferred).
- Perform calculations for wire sizing, transformer sizing, panel sizing, voltage drop, and load balancing.
- Design and specify fire alarm systems compliant with CAN/ULCand other relevant standards.
- Design structured cabling, access control systems, security cameras, emergency lighting, and exit signage (DFS systems).
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes such as Ontario Electrical Code, US electrical standards, NFPA, and others.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients remotely to define project scope and resolve design challenges.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers or designers as needed.
- Support project managers with technical expertise and documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in electrical design for building systems.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a plus.
- Solid understanding of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage power distribution systems.
- Hands-on experience with DFS systems including fire alarms, structured cabling, access control, and security.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards such as Ontario Electrical Code, CAN/ULC, NFPA, and US regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects remotely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in client interaction and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
